Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca means something like “Vine of the Soul” – is an entheogenic brew made from the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and the Psychotria viridis leaf capable of inducing altered states of consciousness, usually lasting between 4 to 8 hours after ingestion. The relationship between the human species and plants capable of altering body and mind is millenarian. People have developed a harmonic relationship with these plants, and frequently they have had a great influence in the human and cultural development of many societies and civilizations. Ayahuasca is a decoction of different botanical species originating from the Amazon region in countries including Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. For centuries, the indigenous populations have utilized this botanical mixture in their rituals for healing and divination. Today, ayahuasca is used all over the world for religious, therapeutic and personal growth purposes.
Ayahuasca is rapidly spreading around the world for it’s incredible ability to treat and heal depression, anxiety, PTSD, and numerous mental and physical health disorders.
It is used in traditional ceremonies among the indigenous tribes of Amazonia. P. virdris contains DMT, a powerful hallucinogen, and B. caapicontains monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which work synergistically with DMT to produce a long-lasting hallucinogenic experience.
