The Strange History of LSD – An Educational Film

For decades, people have been fascinated with the hallucinogenic substance LSD. Whether they themselves have decided to brave the Lysergic realms or not, one cannot deny the mysterious and powerful nature of the substance and its capabilities. After generating a considerable amount of popularity in the late 50s and 60s, people’s interest continued growing to the point of making films about LSD.

In 1971, 33 years after LSD was first discovered by Albert Hoffman, the Encyclopedia Britannica Educational Corporation created one such film, an educational short-film that documented the scientific understanding of LSD and its effects up until that point in time. It is interesting to see how even though our understanding of it continues to change, our fascination with LSD remains the same.
