Ten captivating movies that will make you rethink everything you’ve ever known

Bright Side found ten movies that will help you look at the world from a different perspective.

There are some movies that you forget five minutes after watching them, and there are others that are just toxic to your mind. Some are the kind that leave you with a feeling of joy and peace, while others change you forever.

Bright Side found ten movies that will help you look at the world from a different perspective.

Samsara

’Samsara’ takes the viewer to sacred lands and to areas of natural disasters in the heart of industrial plants and natural miracles. These kinds of movies are filmed for years, and they really rock you and endure over time. We highly recommend this one.

Waking Life

It’s a philosophical parable filled with eternal questions and unexpected answers. Every step brings new mysteries, and the moments of the movie face each other and flow from place to place like waves reaching the shore. The characters aren’t bound by any natural laws or common logic. This world can be either a dream or reality, but it’s wonderful regardless.

This movie’s a mirror; you’ll see your reflection in it. Will you be sorry about how you treat your relatives? Will you be ashamed of your behavior? Everyone has his or her own life and their own conscious, so everybody sees this movie in his or her own way. It’s one of the world’s best movies, not because of the storytelling, but because of what it reveals.

Under the Skin

Imagine you’re a lonely boy walking down the street, and a minibus stops next you, driven by a hot brunette. She offers you a ride, and you easily agree. You can’t refuse her offer, right? But what happens next will shock you. The movie is auteur, intriguing and atmospheric.

This movie is a classic. It’s based on a story about a real person from the 19th century who is suffering from a rare disease which causes awful body deformations. The world lacks movies that touch on humanism so evidently. You won’t be able to stop your tears!

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

An art-house film by a Thai director, this movie is about uncle Boonmee, who thinks about the causes of his illness and, along with his family, crosses jungles and reaches a cave at the top of a mountain where he meets spirits and remembers his first life. Who was he?

The Zero Theorem

Imagine you have a lifelong ambition, and it’s unobtainable and unrealistic. It’s utopian. Imagine yourself living in a gray concrete box trying to escape. This movie is about everyone. If you haven’t seen Terry Gilliam’s ’Brazil’ and ’The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,’ then ’The Zero Theorem’ will strike you.

The Sunset Limited

The movie is about two radical, completely opposite points of view in a closed room. It’s ingeniously made, intricate and elegant. Lovers of action, adventure and tricks might be bored if they don’t set themselves up for a thoughtful, serious viewing.

The Fountain

This movie is for ’The Tree of Life’ and ’Mr.Nobody’ fans, that is, for those wanting to interpret events by themselves. Depending on your beliefs and perceptions, you will see your own story in the events of this movie.

Melancholia

It’s the second movie of the ’trilogy of depression’ by Lars von Trier, made alongside ’Antichrist’ and ’Nymphomaniac’. The plot develops in the days that precede a global catastrophe. A giant planet called Melancholia is approaching Earth. Perhaps it’s a symbol for our own melancholy, blues or depression? It’s worth thinking about.
